The Homemade Exchange was a collaborative project with writer Devin Shepherd. In this project we exchanged ceramic mugs for stories from Mainers about their experience of home. In 2018, we traveled to communities around Maine, and participated in community art walks and other events, to collect stories from individuals. I crafted the ceramic ceramic mugs, made from a coastal Maine clay deposit at Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts, which were traded for these stories about home.

Participants in this project were invited to share audio narratives and/or written reflections or drawings about home. Together, the transcriptions, words, and images gathered from all over Maine have been crafted into a book. Copies of the book are being sent to libraries across the state of Maine.

We would like to thank The Kindling Fund for helping to fund our project!
